Event: Integrating Climate and Environmental Considerations into the Vientiane Capital Action Plan
On 2 June 2026, the two Co-Coordinators on Survey and Clearance of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM), France and Mexico, hosted a workshop titled “Integrating Climate and Environmental Considerations into the Vientiane Capital Action Plan”. 
The workshop brought together States Parties, operators, technical experts and donors to examine the growing operational and policy significance of environmental and climate-related risks for mine action, and to take into account how these considerations might be reflected in the Vientiane Capital Action Plan (VCAP) ahead of the Third Review Conference (3RC).
The workshop comprised expert presentations on climate science, national implementation, donor and operator perspectives and an interactive discussion. Opening remarks were delivered by Ambassador Francisca E. Méndez Escobar of Mexico, while closing remarks were delivered by Ambassador Daovy Vongxay as President of the Third Review Conference (3RC), the Lao PDR.
