What’s next after the Lausanne Action Plan? Strengthening gender considerations and the diversity of populations in CCM implementation

On 12 March, a timely and important discussion took place under the banner of the Convention on Cluster Munitions’ Third Review Conference (CCM3RC) process. Organized by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) alongside the CCM Gender Focal Points — Austria and Cameroon — the event brought together key voices to reflect on progress made and the road ahead.

The session, titled “What’s next after the Lausanne Action Plan? Strengthening gender considerations and the diversity of populations in CCM implementation,” featured interventions from UNIDIR, the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), States Parties, and NGO representatives. The rich exchange of perspectives underscored the importance of ensuring that gender considerations and the needs of diverse populations remain central to how the Convention is put into practice.

As the international community looks ahead to the Third Review Conference, events like this one serve as a vital space for reflection, accountability, and collective commitment. A sincere thank you to all organizers, speakers, and participants for their valuable contributions to this ongoing conversation.
