11MSP President conveys concern over US decision to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions

The President of the 11th Meeting of States Parties (11MSP) to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM), has expressed concern over the decision made by the United States government to supply cluster munitions to Ukraine. The President’s statement, released today, highlights the potential risks posed by cluster munitions and advocates for universal adherence to the Convention’s provisions.

In his statement, the President underlines the shared concerns expressed by United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, numerous CCM States Parties as well as the Cluster Munition Coalition. His statement serves as a call to action for all states to refrain from engaging in the use, development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, retention, or transfer of cluster munitions. It also reiterates the commitment of the Convention’s signatories to foster global peace and security.
