Twelfth Meeting of States Parties

Presided by Mexico, the Twelfth Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions was the third formal meeting of the Convention after the adoption of the Lausanne Action Plan, a five-year (2021-2026) roadmap for States Parties to progress towards the full universalization and implementation of the Convention.

H.E. Mrs. Francisca Elizabeth Méndez Escobar, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mexico, presided over the 12MSP.

Youth voices featured prominently at the 12MSP with screening of the Youth for Humanitarian Disarmament contest submissions and opening address by contest winner Juliany Alcocer.

Date, duration, venue, and estimated cost for the organization of the 13MSP was announced:

  • The 13MSP will take place in 2025 in Geneva
  • Estimated costs of the 13MSP (CCM/MSP/2024/8)

The 13MSP President made remarks looking ahead to the work of States Parties and other delegations during the period up to the Third Review Conference (3RC)

H.E. Mr. Latsamy Keomany, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the United Nations Office in Geneva, was designated as the President of the Third Review Conference (3RC) scheduled for 2026

The 12MSP President delivered the concluding remarks and closed the meeting
