The annual Meetings of States Parties (MSP) are the most important milestones in the implementation of the Convention. According to Article 11 (1):
“The States Parties shall meet regularly in order to consider and, where necessary, take decisions in respect of any matter with regard to the application or implementation of this Convention,…”
The MSPs provide all interested actors from States, the UN and Civil Society with an opportunity to meet and participate in both formal and informal discussions, and interact with each other.
The First Meeting of States Parties (1MSP) took place in Vientiane, Lao PDR, 9 – 12 December 2010.
The Second Meeting of States Parties (2MSP) took place in Beirut, Lebanon, 12 – 16 September 2011.
The Third Meeting of States Parties (3MSP) will take place in Oslo, Norway, 11 – 14 September 2012.
